He is most admired and respected player in the entire nation both by Indian players and foreign players who has been in touch with him in same team and opposite. He has appeared for the National team in a total of 125 matches with staggering statistics of 80 goals naming himself as the 2nd highest active goal scorer in the world behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

His valiant efforts to bring Indian Football forward is no mere small thing to be noted because he has been part of the scenarios where Indian Football was merely absent and now in a condition of ressurecting the lost glories. His leadership qualities and disciplined lifestyle both as a person and a professional makes him unique as an individual and no wonder Indian Footballers make him a role model.
Now, his name is in the chart to be accepted once again by providing him with highest sports award in the country, there is no other reason for the football fans to be happy.
